Why Small Group Learning? The Perfect Balance for Literacy Growth
- Our Read, Write, Grow program has a 1:10 teacher-to-student ratio.
- This offers the perfect balance between personalised instruction and collaborative learning.
- It delivers benefits that go beyond both individual tutoring and whole-class teaching.
1. Personalised Support with Peer Interaction
Large classrooms may not allow students to receive enough individual attention. Our small-group setting allows teachers to personalise instruction. This approach still encourages social learning.
✔ More support than whole-class teaching—students get direct guidance and feedback.
✔ More interaction than one-on-one tutoring—learning alongside peers fosters discussion, idea-sharing, and deeper understanding.
2. Strengthening Social & Communication Skills
Literacy is more than just reading and writing—it’s about expressing ideas clearly. Our small-group approach helps children build essential communication skills through guided discussions and interactive activities.
âś” Practice discussing texts, explaining ideas, and giving feedback in a supportive space.
âś” Develop teamwork, negotiation, and cooperation skills for real-world learning.
A Supportive & Motivating Learning Environment
A warm and encouraging classroom culture makes learning enjoyable.
✔ Safe space to take risks—students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.
✔ Motivation through peer success and positive self-talk—seeing others progress encourages children to challenge themselves.
4. Increased Engagement & Confidence
Children thrive in an environment where they feel supported yet challenged. Small groups provide this balance, ensuring that every child is seen and heard.
✔ Boosts confidence—students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts without the pressure of one-on-one learning.
✔ Encourages participation—peers motivate each other to stay engaged and contribute.
5. Better Long-Term Retention Through Active Learning
Research shows that children retain information better when they learn actively rather than passively. Our structured small-group setting promotes:
✔ Engaging discussions—students reinforce learning by explaining concepts to peers.
✔ Cyclic Learning Approach—”Learn, repeat, recall and retrieval” method.
